I'm going to LA for a conference on 3D printing (Additive Manufacturing for the fancy among you) tomorrow. I think I'm going to have Wednesday and Thursday evening free. Any tips on places to go? I've been to the Peterson. I was thinking of of maybe going to see Endeavour, but the the museum closes at 5. My hotel is in downtown LA, so that's my starting point. I will have a rental car. Thanks!

Griffith Observatory is pretty nice at night.

Petersen is closed anyways. I'd recomment the Griffith Observatory as Blue300 said or almost any hike ever.

If you go to Manhattan Beach, try El Tarasco for some good eats. They are open late.

I'm guessing my rental will be four door shit box, so drifting it is probably a nonstarter. That and I'm not bringing my helmet, but how is the spectating?

LAX. Get on a plane. Get the hell out.
Otherwise I'd cruise the PCH or Mullholand. You've got a chance to escape the traffic at least

Never been there. Went to Willow Springs a couple of trips ago though and that was worthwhile spectating. They don't do Thursday nights though.
I grew up in the LA area and I'd love to go back and drift all the spots.

If you can do the Petersen vault tour, do it. When that's done head north up Fairfax and go to Canter's Deli and gorge on some corned beef. Getting to the Endeavour from downtown is really pretty easy, if you end up having time. Griffith Observatory is pretty nice at noght, as Blue there said, and it's near my old hood in Los Feliz. Lots of good restaurants and bars there, too.

If you're downtown and feeling swanky, I just checked the LA Phil website and they have a show on Thursday.

I'm curious if you don't mind. How did you end up in that field?

I'm in the figuring out how to fix airplane parts field. This is just a possible way to do that.

Jason,
Thanks for the recommendations. I hit Canter's for dinner after seeing Interstellar at the New Beverly last night. The corned beef was great, but the crust of the bread was amazing. Neat place for a late night meal.

That's great! Did you sit in the room with the autumn forest ceiling?

I was near the counter in the room you enter just passed the pastries. Took the hike up to the men's room and looked at some of the old press clippings. Lots of history.
